Common questions

Why is a plan I saw on PowerToChoose missing here?

Three reasons a plan won’t appear: it’s a type we can’t honestly rank (time-of-use, variable-rate, or prepaid); its pricing documents can’t be reliably read; or its advertised rates don’t match its own Electricity Facts Label. In that last case, leaving it out is the point.

Why is my “true rate” higher than the advertised rate?

The advertised rate is calculated at one exact usage level — usually where the plan looks best. Your true rate is calculated at your actual usage, every month. The difference between those two numbers is what this site exists to show you.

Do your totals include delivery charges?

Yes. Every total includes your local utility’s delivery charges and the provider’s monthly fees — the number you see is a complete bill, not an energy-only teaser.

What if I don’t know my monthly usage?

Pick a rough household size and we’ll shape a realistic year of Texas usage for you. Real bills give sharper results — your last twelve are on your provider’s website or app — but the profiles are built to be honest, not flattering.

How current is the pricing?

Plans and pricing are refreshed daily from the providers’ own filed documents.

What happens when I click Enroll?

You go straight to that provider’s own enrollment page — the same link PowerToChoose uses. Enrollment, contracts, and billing are entirely between you and the provider.
