Energy Texas Come & Take It 12

There is no usage cliff, but the $5 discount has conditions. Come & Take It 12 combines a flat energy charge with a $5 monthly Auto Pay and Paperless Communication credit. The discount does not require reaching a kWh threshold. The calculations below assume you qualify every month, so the modeled annual discount is $60.

All modeled bills assume you earn this account credit in every billing cycle. Without it, each modeled monthly bill increases by $5.00 and the twelve-month total increases by $60.00.

Oncor delivery was checked on October 23, 2026 against the delivery schedule updated October 4, 2026. The modeled delivery amounts are separate from the fixed supplier energy charge. These assumptions stay fixed in this dated analysis.

The usage test

How the bill changes with usage

Each bar is one separate monthly bill. With no usage credits, costs increase steadily. The fixed delivery charge is spread over more kWh as usage rises.

1,000 kWh on average is not 1,000 every month

Our standard seasonal example uses 12,000 kWh over twelve months. Its modeled annual cost is $1,668.28, equivalent to 13.90¢/kWh. With no usage-credit thresholds, the annual energy cost depends on the total kWh rather than which months use the most.

The table’s credit column also includes the conditional $5.00 account credit in all twelve months, totaling $60.00 for the year.

Who should take a closer look

This may be easier to evaluate for a household with low or variable use that is comfortable maintaining autopay and paperless communications. Compare its energy charge with other straightforward plans, including offers without a payment-method condition.

The $5 credit can be lost if autopay or paperless communication stops, the email address is invalid, or a failed autopay payment leaves an invoice overdue. Losing all twelve credits adds $60 to the modeled year. The EFL provides a thirty-day cancellation window for qualifying first-time customers; read its conditions. This is a distinct offer, not evidence that Lone Saver Plus was renamed.
